NBRichmond Racing Team
The New Balance Richmond Racing Team is composed of local runners looking to better themselves as athletes in the local Richmond Area. The team is sponsored by New Balance Richmond, a privately owned athletic shoe store, located in the west end of Richmond. NB Richmond not only supports post-collegiate runners and graduate students in their endeavors to continue training at a high level but also those trying to balance work committments with their passion for running and racing. Regardless of their background or ability, they share the same passion of competition and running and contribute to the large running scene in Virginia's commonwealth!
Sponsoring a racing team in Richmond was very important to Jeff Strojny, the manager/owner of the New Balance store. Strojny was a former track standout at the University of Richmond ('09), earning all-conference honors for the Spiders. After graduating, Strojny decided to stay in Richmond and open up the New Balance store with his father, John Strojny. Given his background in running, getting involved with the celebrated running community here has been a top priority. The racing team is one way he is able to give back and support local runners. Although currently sidelined due to injury, Strojny still volunteers at local road races and is a member of the Richmond Road Runners Club.
The NB Richmond Racing Team provides members with a sense of comraderie and support in their training and racing. The NB Richmond team is still developing but hopes to have a full line-up by the end of the year.
